What is a Crystalite?
It's the very latest in LED Phototherapy for photo rejuvenation, stimulation of collagen and acne treatments. It is neither a laser nor an IPL treatment. It delivers light through thousands of light-emitting diodes, containing no harmful UVA UVB radiation. Photons of light penetrate the skin, which leads to increased blood flow, oxygenation, detoxification and cell proliferation. The treatment is painless and may be used in combination with the Angelite Intense Pulse of Light and with the Clear Sonic. No recovery time is needed.

Because it is non-invasive and safe with no patient downtime, it offers new and exciting treatments for ageing or sun damaged skin.
The "Crystalite" is the only unit in Australia with five different panels and output crystals with a fixed single wavelength technology, depending on the color of the panel in use.

What is a Crystalite and what does it do?

An LED is a Light Emitting Diode and is a device, which emits highly pure colours of very gentle light - less energy in fact than a 25-watt kitchen light bulb. With this treatment, unlike the Intense Pulse of Light treatments, little or no heat is produced. NASA research has shown that certain types of pure LED light can stimulate wound healing and tissue growth. In simple terms the molecular biology of the skin cells is altered such that the cells begin a process of rejuvenation and age reversal. The skin produces new collagen, kills unwanted pathological bacteria, inhibits breakdown enzymes, increases the blood and lymphatic circulation and alters the way the skin cells perform on a molecular level. This is therefore directly opposite to process of normal aging. Crystalite technology can stimulate your own skin cells to produce the biological components of more youthful, healthy skin. This is called Photo modulation.

About our range of Crystalite Panels

Blue Light
At 410 nanometers, this is optimum wavelength for effective treatment of acne vulgaris and acne related skin infection. Although mainly used for acne, this light panel may also be used to treat rosacea, fungal conditions, psoriasis, and simple skin cancers. Blue Light can also be used for Photo Dynamic therapy (PDT).

Green Light
At 525 nanometers, this is the treatment of choice for photodynamic therapy for the effective treatment of severe sun or photo aged skin. It is also a very effective treatment for some pre-cancerous skin lesions.

Yellow Light
At 590 nanometers, this light is normally used on IPL units for photo facials and photo rejuvenation. On the "Crystalite", the yellow panel will perform a similar role. It is also used for gentle photo facials and continuing pigmentation treatment after treatment with the red panel. In addition, the Yellow panel is used to treat Rosacea after treatment with the Angelite. We also use the Yellow light to treat skin following superficial or light peels or inflammatory conditions causing redness.

Red Light
At 630 nanometers, the Red Light increases the production of collagen as well as increases circulation making this colour the ideal photo-rejuvenation panel. This light is used to smooth and brighten the complexion, lessen hyper pigmentation, reduce puffiness and improve the appearance of aging and damaged skin. It can minimize superficial wrinkles, shrink sebaceous glands and settle bruising, swelling, and edema. It is also used for patients with rosacea and treatments with this light therapy help reduce inflammation of tissue after surgery.

Infrared light
At 850 nanometers, this is an invisible light. Doctors mainly use this light for deep penetration and healing of tissue. It can assist with a more speedy recovery after surgery, especially Liposuction. It can be alternated with the red panel to stimulate healing. Its benefit is in the first two to three weeks post-operatively. It is especially valuable to decrease inflammation and swelling after liposuction and facial surgery and to help stimulate the circulation and the lymphatics. Healing time may be reduced significantly with the use of this panel. There has been some research to indicate that this light may also help to relieve some of the discomfort from rheumatoid and osteoarthritis.
Crystalite treatments are painless and allow you to return to your normal daily routine immediately.

Patient Journey

Before any treatment, you will meet with your Doctor or the Cosmetic Nurse Practitioner for a consultation to discuss whether this is the right procedure for you. Your Doctor/Nurse will take a medical history and will ask specific questions. It is important to notify your Doctor/Nurse if you are pregnant, if you are trying to become pregnant, if you are breastfeeding and also if you are taking any medications. Your Doctor/Nurse will also discuss with you your motivations and expectations. It will be explained what Crystalite Light Technology can and can't do for you and what type of results you can expect.
Your photograph will be taken from different angles. These photographs are valuable for before and after assessments and long-term reviews.
The patient will lie comfortably wearing special protective goggles. He/she will be placed under a specific light panel for 25-30 minutes initially, building up to 45-60 mins depending on skin type and condition. Darker skin types will be treated for shorter periods of time to reduce the risk of hyper-pigmentation.
For the first month the recommended treatment is twice a week and then it can be taken to once a week for the next 4weeks. As light therapies create free radicals, patients are asked to cease using topical anti-oxidant creams on their skin for the course of the treatments, as they will prevent maximum benefit.

People who cannot have Crystalite:

Photodynamic therapy and the Blue Crystalite

The Blue Crystalite is specifically used for treating acne and is very effective in helping reduce the numbers of bacterium that colonise acne prone skin.
The Blue Crystalite has been found to be a very effective treatment of moderate acne and may be the treatment for you.

How does Blue Crystalite panel work?

The Blue Crystalite kills the P. acnes bacteria in your skin. The Blue Light can be administered alone or in conjunction with the topical application of a special medicated cream for the treatment of acne vulgaris. Studies show that the Blue Crystalite provides treatment for both active lesions and other inactive sebaceous glands that are not creating active lesions. Pretreatment with the special medicated cream used in photodynamnic therapy for acne may offer additional reduction of lesions, pustules, and papules.

What are the treatments like?

Patients receiving the Blue Crystalite only will simply sit in front of the light panel for about 30 minutes. Treatments are spaced at weekly intervals. The number of your treatments, your treatment time and your treatment interval may vary with the severity of your acne.
