Clear Skincare Product Range

Clearskincare is an Australian made range of affordable skincare products that are suitable for skins affected by acne, sun damage, acne scarring, pigmentation and ageing. Dr. Philippa McCaffery, the founder and creator of Clearskincare, has designed different skincare programmes, to help with these skin problems. Clearskincare skin consultants, who are trained in these programmes, are available online and over the phone to advise you about which programme and products are suitable for your skin.

Vitamin C Serum 10%

  • Contains Vitamin C as amino ascorbyl phosphate.
  • Most stable form of ascorbic acid currently available.
  • Use once daily, 2-3 drops, whole face and around the eyes.
  • Good for treating sunburn, solar keratoses and as a substitute for moisturiser AM in ageing and sundamaged skins.

Clearskincare’s Vitamin C Serum has a new Vitamin C compound called “ Vitagen” as it’s active Vitamin C. We all know Vitamin C is a powerful anti-oxidant and anti-ageing compound but most Vitamin C solutions are very unstable. This is Clearskincare’s latest Vitamin C formulation as we constantly upgrade our formulas to the most stable Vitamin C available. “ Vitagen “ is amino ascorbyl phosphate and has been shown in clinical tests to be significantly more stable than ascorbic acid, L ascorbic acid or magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (which are other common forms of Vitamin C used in serums.)

In clinical trials “ Vitagen” Vitamin C led to a 20% decrease in fine lines and wrinkles in the eye and cheek area. A 13-16% decrease in skin roughness and 29-33% decrease in hyperpigmentation and age spots. Other benefits included stimulation of dermal collagen production, significant antioxidant activity (reduction of free radicals) and reduction of melanin production.

Clearskincare recommends using Vitamin C Serum in the morning. We recommend using Vitamin C Serum on clean, dry skin, just 2-3 drops. Measure out 2-3 drops on the back of your hand and spread evenly onto the face and rub in all over the face and around the eyes. Always follow application of Vitamin C Serum with Sunscreen.

You can use the Vitamin C Serum after you have rolled your face with the Face Roller. If you want to get the best absorption of Vitamin C Serum, roll the skin gently for 2-3 minutes, concentrating on those areas where there are lines, for example, around the eyes and mouth, then apply 2-3 drops of Vitamin C over the whole face and around the eyes.

Clearskincare’s Vitamin C Serum is a water based serum that absorbs completely into the skin leaving no residue.

New Skin

  • a 1% retinyl palmitate cream, the maximum dose available without registration as a medicine
  • a collagen stimulating cream that can significantly improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • always use in combination with Clearskin 2%
  • has a paradoxical effect on acne prone skin – is comedogenic, ie can stimulate the production of blackheads and pimples – therefore DO NOT USE ON ACNE PRONE SKIN
  • is the closest product in the Clearskincare range to a traditional moisturiser: it can also be used twice a day if required

We know from clinical trials that Vitamin A has numerous beneficial effects on the skin including stimulating dermal collagen production, improving dermal water content and stabilizing melanocytes ( which are our pigment producing cells ) . Vitamin A also has a sun protective action in the skin by absorbing UVB. So if we are serious about rejuvenating the skin, improving fine lines, skin texture and evening out our skin colour, we must use Vitamin A.

When we use New Skin with the Face Roller, we are ensuring we get the highest possible absorption of the most effective collagen stimulator ( New Skin -Vitamin A) into the dermis. Therefore we get the best possible result with the least risk of side effects.

Clearskincare Sunscreen

  • an everyday sunblock which can be used as a moisturizer combining the best sunprotection (TGA approved and registered) in a moisturizing base suitable for all skins
  • a TGA registered 30+ broad spectrum sunblock formulated with no oil, making it perfect for acneprone skins
  • does not contain zinc oxide or titanium oxide as both of these compounds require an oil base, even in micronised form
  • recommended for use every day, 365 days per year
  • can be used under makeup

Moisturizers do not prevent wrinkles. That’s correct, moisturizers do not prevent wrinkles. The main reason most woman feel they need a moisturizer is because of the temporary feeling of dryness that occurs after cleansing the skin.

If you want to use a moisturizer to get rid of that feeling of dryness, use a moisturizer that will have some benefit for the skin. And the best moisturizer you can use is one that contains an SPF 30. Many moisturizers contain SPF (Sun Protection Factor). What makes Clearskincare’s Sunscreen so special is that it contains 30 Plus SPF and is a fully registered TGA sunscreen. Now 30Plus Sunscreens are usually very greasy and not at all suitable to use as a moisturizer. Now you never need to purchase a moisturizer again, you can use Clearskincare’s Sunscreen SPF 30 everyday as a moisturizer and know that you are doing the best possible thing for your skin.

Sun Exposure is the biggest cause of premature skin ageing and the premature formation of lines and wrinkles. And in Australia we are exposed to sun everyday, even just walking around. So we must wear Sunscreen everyday, rain or shine, 365 days per year.

If you don’t wear Sunscreen, your skin will start to show signs of premature skin ageing, thickened, roughened skin, formation of abnormal pigment and sun spots, dullness and lines and wrinkles.

30 Plus is the maximum rating of Sunscreen in Australia. Regular application of 30 Plus Sunscreen plus a hat will provide excellent protection against our harsh climate.

The best thing about Clearskincare’s Sunscreen 30 Plus is that it is completely oil free and is even suitable for acne prone skins.

Microdermabrasion Cream With Glycolic Acid

Microdermabrasion Cream with glycolic aid is used to exfoliate the dead skin cells that lie on the surface of the skin and make it feel rough and dry. These dead skin cells cause lots of problems for the skin. In acne prone skins, they clog up the pores and lead to the formation of blackheads and pimples. In older skins, these dead skin cells make the skin feel rough and prevent the optimal penetration of our anti-ageing ingredients, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. We can also use it to exfoliate dead skin cells that block the pores on the outsides of the arms and on the thighs – which is a medical condition called keratosis pilaris (hair follicles blocked with keratin (dead skin cells).

Microdermabrasion Cream with Glycolic Acid is an essential part of controlling active acne and Clearskincare recommends all of my teenage patients with acne and my adults with very oily skin, use Microdermabrasion Cream with glycolic acid daily in the shower.

In fact, in my patients with mild, breakout prone skin, they will get complete control of their breakout with a once a day scrub with Microdermabrasion Cream with glycolic acid. It’s also fantastic for controlling breakouts on the back and chest. For older skins, I recommend using Microdermabrasion Cream with glycolic acid twice a week to clear away any dead skin cells and to leave the skin feeling soft and supple.

And for those of you who are still thinking about the Face Roller, remember what when talked about the skin’s barriers and how they prevent absorption of our collagen stimulating ingredients, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. You can use the Microdermabrasion Cream with glycolic acid as a face cleanser and you will increase your absorption of your collagen stimulating Vitamin A and Vitamin C by reducing that outer dead skin cell layer.

This is because the key to changing your skin and reducing lines and wrinkles and sun damage, is getting Clearskincare’s collagen stimulating ingredients, Vitamin C and Vitamin A past the skin’s barriers and into the dermis.

Microdermabrasion cream with glycolic acid will totally control mild breakout and acne. Microdermabrasion Cream with glycolic acid will lead to an improvement in the texture and clarity of the skin. If used regularly in conjunction with Clearskincare’s collagen stimulating New Skin and Vitamin C Serum, you will also see significant improvement in the appearance of fines lines and wrinkles.Clearskincare recommends you use the Face Roller or the Skin & Scalp Roller, or we can use Microdermabrasion Cream with glycolic acid. The purpose of each of these is to increase penetration and absorption of our collagen stimulating New Skin and Vitamin C Serum into the dermis. Clearskincare recommends you use either the Rollers or Microdermabrasion cream with glycolic acid.

How does Microdermabrasion Cream with glycolic acid differ from salon/clinic Microdermabrasion treatments?
We can vary the strength of the exfoliation much more accurately with Microdermabrasion Cream with glycolic acid than we can with a Microdermabrasion Clinic treatment. This allows us to achieve a gentle exfoliation to assist in penetration of New Skin & Vitamin C Serum. Or we can achieve a full strength exfoliation by using Microdermabrasion cream with glycolic acid for 5-6 minutes.

Can you overexfoliate your skin?
Yes you can and your skin will tell you so by becoming irritated. Therefore Clearskincare recommends :
1. Daily exfoliation for active acne and oily skins.
2. Twice weekly exfoliation for older skins
3. Gently daily cleansing with Microdermabrasion Cream with glycolic acid to enhance penetration of Vitamin A and Vitamin C.

Microdermabrasion Cream - Face - With Retinyl Palmitate

Microdermabrasion Cream with retinyl palmitate is used to exfoliate the dead skin cells that lie on the surface of the skin and make it feel rough and dry. The cream base is 1% retinyl palmitate, a powerful collagen stimulator and antioxidant. The combination of the exfoliating action of the aluminium oxide crystals enables deeper penetration of New Skin’s 1% retinyl palmitate cream. This is a combined exfoliating and collagen stimulating homebased regimen which will produce softer skin texture and plumper skin. Perfect for more mature and sun damaged skins, Microdermabrasion Cream with New Skin has no equal in any other sincare range. Clearskincare recommends a 5 minute exfoliating skincae regimen twice weekly. Used in combination with Clearskincare’s New Skin, Clearskin 2% and Vitamin C Serum, you will see significant differences in your skin’s texture and appearance within 4 weeks.

CP Serum

What is Clearskincare Copper Peptide Serum?
Clearskincare uses 2nd generation GHK-CU copper peptides, complexes of copper ions and small pieces of proteins called peptides. GHK-CU is a normal constituent of human plasma, saliva and urine.

The 2nd generation GHK-CU is a very stable, breakdown resistant copper peptide with a high adherence to skin and tissue and is the most effective form of GHK-CU copper peptide available.

What are the benefits of Clearskincare Copper Peptide Serum?
1. Accelerates wound repair
2. Increases skin renewal – reduces the appearance of wrinkle and fine lines
3. Reduces the appearance of skin ageing – firms the skin, reduces the appearance of small and large wrinkles, reduces blotchiness and blemishes, improves elasticity and skin plumpness
4. Reduces the appearance of sun damage – reduces visible signs of ageing and increases skin density in 8 weeks

How does Clearskincare Copper Peptide Serum work?
Once absorbed after application to the skin’s surface GHK-CU activates the processes that remove scarred or damaged tissue (scar collagen) and deposit new healthy skin (healthy collagen) – (Maquart, Simeon, Paco, Monboisse, J. Soc. Biol., 193, 1999, 423)

At the molecular level, Clearskincare Copper Peptide Serum, stimulates the rebuilding of new skin by increasing angiogenesis, the production of m-RNA for collagen, elastin, proteoglycans, glycosaminoglycans and decorin, while simultaneously stimulating the m-RNA production of, and synthesis of, certain metalloproteinases and anti-proteases that clear damaged protein and remove scars (Simeon, Monier, Emonard, Gillery; Birembaut, Hornebeck, Maquart, J. Invest. Dermatol., 112, 1999, 957).

Clearskincare Copper Peptide Serum also suppresses the secretion of scar-forming TGF-beta-1 by fibroblasts (McCormack, Nowak, Koch, Arch. Facial Plast. Surg., 3, 2001, 28).

In addition Clearskincare Copper Peptide Serum acts as a chemical lure for cells that stimulate repair, such as macrophages and mast cells. These cells release growth factor proteins that stimulate tissue repair (Maquart, Gillery, Monboisse, Pickart, Laurent, Borel, Ann. N.Y. Acad. Sci., 580, 1990).

How effective is Clearskincare Copper Peptide Serum in comparison with other products?
In clinical trials, GHK-CU was found to be more effective in stimulating new collagen development than Vitamin C, retinoic acid or melatonin (Abulghani, Shirin, Morales-Tapia, Sherr, Solodkina, Robertson, Gottlieb, J. Invest. Derm., 110, 1998, 686).

How safe is Clearskincare Copper Peptide Serum?
Numerous safety tests of copper peptides have failed to find any toxicity problems. No rise in blood copper has ever been found in humans treated with copper peptides.

Face Roller

The skin’s primary function is to act as a barrier to the outside world and protect the body’s vital organs. Whilst this barrier function is essential , it does make it a little tricky to get our effective active ingredients (New Skin- Vitamin A and Vitamin C Serum) into the skin. New Skin- Vitamin A and Vitamin C Serum are both anti oxidants (protecting the skin from free radical damage) and collagen stimulators. New Skin- Vitamin A is a powerful collagen stimulator and moderate anti oxidant and Vitamin C Serum is a powerful antioxidant and moderate collagen stimulator, so they are perfectly complimentary. The challenge for any active skin cream is to penetrate the skin’s inbuilt barriers and reach the part of the skin where they are going to have the most effect. The skin has not just one, but two barriers that act to prevent the absorption of active ingredients into the skin, the stratum corneum and the epidermal dermal junction. Clearskincare has created an active ingredient delivery system that is at the cutting edge of skincare technology

Clearskincare Face Roller:
The Face Roller head has 48 tiny acupuncture needles arranged in rows of four needles spaced five millimetres apart. These needles are able to create tiny channels into the stratum corneum to assist New Skin -Vitamin A and Vitamin C Serum to pass this first barrier the Stratum Coreum.

What benefits will be received?
The major benefit is that we stop wasting most of valuable skin creams and serums on our hands!

How does it work?
The Roller has 2 main actions on the skin. The first is to create tiny channels through the stratum corneum to allow Vitamin A and Vitamin C to penetrate through to the epidermis and then through the second barrier, the epidermal-dermal junction, and ultimately through to the dermis. The second action of the Face Roller is dermal massage. Now we know dermal massage is very beneficial for the skin. It is the main reason our skins look so good after a facial. But medically we also know that dermal massage is good for promoting collagen stimulation and as we discussed earlier, our main aim in repairing and preventing skin ageing is collagen stimulation.

The Face Roller is really easy to use. You use the Face Roller on clean, dry skin and start rolling in one direction, in short quick strokes for 30 seconds , then change directions and roll at 45 degrees for another 30 seconds, then change direction again and roll for a further 30 seconds. You can start off using the Face Roller very lightly and as you get used to the sensation, you can apply a little more pressure. Rolling should never be painful. You should feel some stimulation of the skin, but it should always be pleasant.

What areas can be treated? The Face Roller can be used it to treat any area of the face. It can be used around the delicate eye area, the neck and even on the hands.

Is there anything like this one the market?
There is another similar product on the market but it is retails for $750.

How long did it take you to develop it?
The Face Roller was developed after I developed the Medical Rollers which are a much longer needle roller for treating deep lines and deep scars.

Why did you develop it?
All of the emphasis in Cosmetic Dermatology today is on what we call “non-invasive” treatments. People are demanding treatments that deliver excellent results with low risk and with minimal “downtime”. Our lives today are too busy to allow for weeks to be spent hidden away from the world whilst we recover from laser surgery or chemical peels.

Is there any downtime/healing time?
The beauty of the Face Roller is that we can dramatically increase the absorption of Vitamin A and Vitamin C and therefore stimulate new collagen production and that we can do this daily in our home as part of our daily skincare routine and have NO downtime and still achieve the improvement in our skin’s appearance that we would expect from a much more invasive procedure like a chemical peel.

When & what results will we see?
Using the Face Roller daily with Vitamin A and Vitamin C (and we’ll be talking about these next), you will see significant improvement in your skin’s texture, fine lines and clarity within 4 weeks.

The Face Roller is painfree.
Using the Face Roller should never be painful, just roll the Face Roller gently over the skin so that it is stimulating but quite comfortable.

The Face Roller is for one person only.
Your Face Roller should last for at least 6 months with daily use. Replace your roller as soon as you no longer feel you are not getting as much stimulation to your skin as usual.

The Face Roller is extremely easy to look after.
Always place it back in it’s plastic box after use and once a week, rinse it under very hot water, leave it overnight to dry and then place it back in it’s plastic box.

Skin & Scalp Roller - Regular (48 Needles)

Depressed acne scars have been very difficult to improve in the past, and treatment options were very expensive and carried the risk of permanent skin colour change and long recovery times.

Skin Needling is an exciting new treatment which has been shown to improve the appearance of depressed Acne Scarring, to help fill old surgical scars and deep lines and to improve chicken pox scars. Skin Needling is also known as Facial Mesotherapy or Collagen Induction Therapy.

Skin Needling is usually performed by a doctor or nurse using needles that can penetrate into the dermal layer of the skin. At Clearskincare, we have been performing Skin Needling for Acne Scarring for over 4 years. Clearskincare has a range of Skin Rollers that can be used at home.

The Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller - needle length 0.75mm, gauge 0.25mm) has 48 highest quality stainless steel acupuncture needles arranged in rows of 4 around the durable plastic roller head. The needles gently massage and stimulate the skin's dermal layer. The dermal layer of the skin contains fibroblasts, which when stimulated produce new collagen by utilising the skin's inbuilt wound healing mechanism.

The Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller produces micro wounds stimulating the human bodies natural wound healing response. One of the benefits of this response is collagen induction, where the production of collagen and elastin is stimulated and your acne scars/pock marks are infilled naturally.

There is no down time from using the Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller. The roller can be used daily and there is no bruising, reddening of the skin or pain. A moderate prickling sensation is experienced whilst rolling that may persist for approximately 10-15 minutes after rolling, the persistence of this prickling sensation diminishes once the rolling routine has been established.

Results vary from person to person and the duration of treatment is dendent on the severity, depth and extent of the scarring and the speed of the users personal wound healing response. Every person who has undertaken skin needling has improved the appearance of their scars.

Your skin is naturally renewed every 40 days (1 cycle). Results will be noticeable from the Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller after 2 cycles (80 days). Significant results will be evident after 4-6 cycles. Rolling can be ceased when you feel that your scars have sufficiently filled in. Another benefit of skin needling is that your scars will continue to infill naturally for up to 12 months after your final treatment.

The Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller will assist in improving the appearance of superficial depressed acne scars. If you have deep acne scars, you will need to supplement your home rolling with deeper Skin Needling. If you need more information about Skin Needling for deep acne scars, please contact one of our Clearskincare Clinics or via email at hugh@clearskincare.com.au

It is recommended the Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller is used by one person only.

Skin & Scalp Roller - Large (96 Needles)

Minoxidil is the only clinically proven topical medication that can successfully stimulate hair regrowth. The downside of Minoxidil is that you have to apply it twice a day and there is rarely any new hair growth for the first 3 months. Consequently, many people grow discouraged and give up using Minoxidil before it has had a chance to work.

Clearskincare's Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller offers a safe, effective and affordable way to maximise the beneficial results of Minoxidil. Best of all, results can be achieved within 4-6 weeks with daily scalp rolling and a single application of Minoxidil.

How does it work?
The Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller (needle length 0.75mm, gauge 0.25mm) is an instrument consisting of a heavy duty plastic roller head covered in 96 highest quality stainless steel acupuncture needles. The Hair Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller has three separate actions on the scalp. The needles are designed to penetrate the stratum corneum, the hard outer surface of the epidermal layer of the scalp. Hundreds of tiny channels are created through the stratum corneum, which facilitate the passage and absorption of Minoxidil into the dermis to maximize it‚s absorption by the hair follicles.

The Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller also stimulates blood flow to the hair follicles via direct scalp massage. The third action of the Hair Restoration Scalp Roller is to gently exfoliate excess skin cells which accumulate in the hair follicles, contributing to hair follicle malnutrition and ultimately hair follicle failure and permanent hair loss.

Our new 96 needle version of the Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller is twice the width of the 48 needle version. Therfore, the amount of time you spend rolling is cut in half!

Does it hurt?
The needles of the Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller are long enough to assist in the penetration of Minoxidil, but will not damage the scalp in anyway. It is normal for the scalp to be a little sensitive when scalp rolling is first commenced, but most people report no problems after 1 week. Always use the Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller gently at first, increasing the pressure on the roller as you become accustomed to the sensation of scalp rolling.

Can the Hair Restoration Scalp Roller be used for women and as well as men?
Definitely. Women can use the Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller alone or in conjunction with Minoxidil.

Are there any side effects?
Some people experience a temporary irritation of their scalp when they first start using the Skin & Scalp Roller with Minoxidil. We recommend rolling more gently and for a shorter period and this irritation usually settles with 24-48 hours.

How can I obtain Minoxidil?
Minoxidil can be readily obtained from pharmacies in Australia and throughout the world. If you need any assistance in obtaining Minoxidil, please contact us via email at hugh@clearskincare.com.au

It is recommended the Novaderm Skin & Scalp Roller is used by one person only.

Easy Squeeze

Imagine, easy blackhead and pimple removal. No more steaming, squeezing, skin damage or frustration.

Many people try to extract blackheads and pimples with their fingers. This method is not very successful and risks damaging the skin and causing scars. You will see many different blackhead and pimple removers advertised on the web. All of them suffer from the same design flaw. You cannot extract the contents of a pore by exerting a horizontal force on the pore. All you will achieve is trauma to the pore and risk a scar to the skin.

The Easy Squeeze works by its unique, patented vertical pressure onto the pore, which enables the contents of even the most hardened, old blackhead or pimple to be extracted without damaging the skin. The Easy Squeeze is the most effective blackhead remover currently available.

How to use the Easy Squeeze

Step 1. Place you two fingers (index and middle fingers) on either side of the pimple or blackhead and pull until the skin is taut (tight).

Step 2. Place the Easy Squeeze over the pimple / white head or blackhead and then push down firmly to extract the contents of the pore.

Step 3. Do not scrape the skin with the Easy Squeeze. Once finished clean and wash with hot water.

Stretchmark Pack

Stretchmarks are caused rapid stretching of the skin, leading to breakage of the skin’s collagen. Stretchmarks are best thought of as depressed scars, where the normal skin structure has been significantly injured and the collagen broken and replaced by fibrous tissue. They can be red or white. Generally red stretchmarks are more responsive to treatment than white stretchmarks.

Skin Needling for stretchmarks is a one of the only effective ways of rebuilding the structure of the skin via collagen induction. Clearskincare’s Skin & Scalp Roller has 2 main actions on the skin. The first is to create tiny channels through the Stratum Corneum, the outermost layer of the skin, to allow collagen stimulating ingredients like Vitamin A to penetrate through to the dermis. The second action of the Skin & Scalp Roller is dermal massage. Dermal massage stimulates collagen production. Clearskincare also recommends using prescription strength Vitamin A for best results.

Acne Prone / Breakout Prone Pack

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions, affecting most teenagers between 16 and 19 years and up to 20% of adults.

For many people acne is a real problem. It's painful, distressing and embarrassing, affecting self esteem.

There are numerous acne treatments available. But many of them are useless; others are worse than useless and are actually harmful.

But effective treatments do exist, and should be started early because treating acne reduces the likelihood of acne leaving permanent scarring.

The medical term for acne is acne vulgaris. It's a disease of the skin caused by excess production of sebum in the skin. Sebum is a wax that keeps the skin waterproof. It's produced by the sebaceous glands, which are attached to the hair follicles in the skin (pores which carry shafts of hair). The sebum travels from the sebaceous glands up to the skin via the skin pores.

For reasons we don’t completely understand, acne prone skin produce too many skin cells. When these cells reach the surface of the skin and die, they mix with sebum and block up the hair follicles. Because sebum is still being produced, it builds up behind the blockage. This causes a swelling, which may then burst out into the surrounding layers of skin. This causes inflammation – pain, redness, and swelling. Bacteria may invade the area, and pus can form.

This Acne cycle causes different types of sores and blemishes, depending on the stage of the cycle. So someone with acne may have one or more of the following:

Blackheads – these are a collection of dead cells and sebum blocking the pore (the blackness is not dirt, just discolouration)

Whiteheads – sebum is building up behind the blockage causing a lump, which hasn't opened into the skin

Papules – the sebum has broken out into the layers beneath the surface of the skin and caused inflammation, so it appears as painful reddish lumps

Pustules – the inflammation has turned into pus and broken through to the skin to form the classic yellow 'pimple'

Cysts and Nodules – these are painful lumps caused by inflammation in the skin

Open Sores – usually pimples that have been scratched, exposing them to the air

Scars – pockmarked, sometimes darkened, areas of skin left after large pustules (and sometimes even small pimples) have healed.

Sebaceous gland activity is governed by the sex hormones. The oestrogens (the female sex hormones) suppress the sebaceous glands, whereas the androgens (the male sex hormones) stimulate them. Males and females have both types of sex hormones.

During the teen years the blood levels of sex hormones rise, and this is the reason why acne is more common in teenagers.

Adult acne may often be the result of an hormone imbalance in females, and it is important to have this investigated by your doctor, particularly if you have other symptoms of an hormonal imbalance such as irregular periods and/or excess body hair.

Acne can also be caused by taking extra hormones, in the form of anabolic steroids, corticosteroid medication; and some hormone treatments.

The good news is Acne can be successfully controlled with the Clearskincare Acne Programme. The Clearskincare Acne Programme is a comprehensive treatment programme. We diagnose the underlying cause of your acne, initiate a skincare and treatment programme to control your breakouts and we offer a range of treatments to improve the appearance of both pigmented and depressed acne scarring. Every programme is individually tailored and your progress is carefully monitored to ensure the best outcome.

If you would like more information about the Clearskincare Acne Programme please contact one of our skin consultants or complete our Online Consultation.

Youthful Skin / Sun Damage / Pigmentation Pack

Excessive sun exposure damages every layer structure and cell in the skin. The simple freckle is the earliest sign that the skin's protective melanin response has been overloaded. With a lifetime of sun exposure, collagen disappears and elastin grows abnormally leading to thick, roughened skin that tears on contact. Skin texture coarsens and the skin appears mottled as the skin's normal colour is replaced by brown and white spots.

Prescription Creams are the only products that have been clinically proven to repair sun damage to the skin's structures and cells. Retinyl Palmitate is a cosmetic strength Vitamin A compound that can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Clearskincare's Sun Damage Programme can repair skin cell damage and reverse many of the skin changes caused by skin ageing and sun damage.

The Clearskincare Sun Damage Programme can be adjusted for each individual.
