Cheek Slimming
CHEEK SLIMMING (BUCCAL FAT PAD REMOVAL) SURGERY
A beautiful, more 'chiseled' look is possible using this procedure to remove the fat pads that augment the lower part of the cheeks. This produces a subtle thinning of the cheeks; it is not a drastic change.
Buccal fat pad extraction or removal is for those with extra round cheeks who wish to have a slightly more chiseled look. Most people lose this roundness in their late 20s (something to consider if you consider having this surgery before that age). Due to heredity, some people may never lose the chubby look in their cheeks. Often candidates for buccal fat pad extraction refer to their face as having "chipmunk cheeks."
The procedure itself is fairly simple and not overly invasive. A small incision is made inside the mouth and the lump of fat is gently removed. There is usually some swelling for most patients afterwards, typically 7-10 days, but every patient is different. Minor swelling can remain for up to six weeks as the healing tissues continue to mature and contract into final position.
